Google's Performance Max for Travel Goals(PMTG) is a travel-specific Google Ads feature that was launched in 2023. It automates hotel advertising across multiple Google ad networks, including Search, Display, and YouTube.
Triptease are currently trialing PMTG with a cohort of our Paid Search clients to evaluate how we could best leverage this new addition to Google’s toolbox.
The benefits of PMTG as it stands currently include:
  • Being able to target multiple channels at once including search, videos, and display.
  • Leveraging Google’s knowledge and data
  • Dynamic Ad creative
The downsides of PMTG include:
  • Reduced control over ad placements
  • Lack of visibility in reporting
  • Upfront ad spend required
  • Higher ad spend required than traditional advertising campaigns
In our PMTG proof-of-concept, along with determining how valuable PMTG can be for Triptease customers, we are also working on ways to minimize the downsides of PMTG, including:
  • Whether we can use hotel-specific insights to boost performance
  • How to surface more detailed performance insights
  • Being able to run PMTG on a CPA model
